A factory acceptance test should prove that the equipment being packed is the configuration the buyer approved and that the handover evidence is sufficient to install and recover the system later.

Lock the test configuration

Start with the approved quotation, cabinet layout, bill of materials and drawing revision. Identify the exact pitch, cabinet count, control system, power design, accessories and spare quantities represented by the test sample or assembled wall.

Record serial or batch references where available. If the FAT uses only part of a large wall, state how the sample represents the full production quantity.

Inspect mechanics and service access

Measure cabinet dimensions and check flatness, locks, handles, locating pins, module seams, protective masks, connectors and finish. Demonstrate the agreed front or rear replacement path with the actual tools and clearance.

Review weight and fixing interfaces against the project drawing. The factory can document cabinet loads; the local structural engineer remains responsible for the installed structure.

Run image and control tests

Use full red, green, blue, white and black fields, grey gradients, fine text, motion and customer content. Look for dead pixels, color variation, visible seams, low-grey noise, scan artifacts and settings that hide defects by running only bright promotional video.

Verify controller capacity, mapping, configuration backup, receiving-card parameters, brightness limits and any signal or power redundancy. Save the approved files with the handover package.

Require batch-level evidence

A published MCVISUAL production case documents 420 P1.25 GOB cabinets for 11 sites. The full quantity was assembled in continuous rows, run for 72 hours from one source and compared using skin tones, greens and saturated reds before packing. The evidence shows the batch and method used for that order; it is not a substitute for defining the FAT on a new purchase order.

For your own project, require the report to identify total batch quantity, quantity assembled at one time, run period, test content, corrections made and final disposition. Keep dated photographs or video with the signed checklist so the buyer can connect each record to the equipment being shipped.

Close aging, spares and packing

Review the aging record and corrections, then repeat the final visual inspection. Count spare modules, power supplies, receiving cards, masks, cables and tools. Confirm that batch-sensitive modules are labeled for the wall.

Photograph the packing method, shipping marks and final case count. Match gross weights and dimensions to the commercial packing list. Download the editable FAT checklist before your inspection.
