How to Compare the Landed Cost of an Imported LED Video Wall
A low price per square meter is not a low project cost. U.S. buyers need one comparison sheet that follows the shipment from the approved cabinet configuration to the final delivery point and keeps local work outside the factory quotation visible.

Start with an identical technical scope

Normalize active dimensions, physical resolution, cabinet quantity, LED package, driver IC, refresh rate, brightness after calibration, maintenance direction, controller, redundancy and spare parts before comparing prices. Two quotations with the same pitch can carry different cabinet counts, power architecture and service access.

Ask each supplier to identify exclusions. Structure, branch circuits, local signal cabling, lifts, installation labor, commissioning travel and permits are often outside an export factory quotation. Leaving them blank does not make them free.

Build the landed-cost worksheet

Separate product, factory packing, origin handling, international freight, cargo insurance, destination handling, customs brokerage, duty and fees, domestic delivery and unloading. Add the cost of the importer, payment charges and any inspection requested before shipment.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection explains that duty, taxes and user fees depend on the commodity and entry, while declared value follows customs valuation rules. Use a licensed customs broker for the actual classification and rate; a supplier's HS-code reference is an input, not a binding decision.

Price the risk that moves after delivery

Include spare modules from the same production batch, power supplies, receiving cards, masks, cables and service tools. Then price the response path: who diagnoses a fault, who holds spares, how configuration backups are transferred and who pays freight for warranty parts.

A cheaper system can become expensive if a local technician cannot remove a module, the controller file is missing or replacement LEDs do not match the calibrated batch. Compare the documented recovery process, not only the warranty duration.

Use one final comparison number

Calculate landed equipment cost, estimated local project cost and a separate contingency. Keep taxes and recoverable amounts labeled. Record the quotation date and freight validity because logistics can change faster than the product price.

Use the U.S. project brief to collect the inputs before requesting revised quotations. The result should explain every material difference between suppliers rather than forcing unlike systems into one price-per-square-meter column.
